“Are you there for me? Do I really matter to you?”: An Introduction to Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. We will provide you with an overview of EFT - this approach provides partners opportunities to achieve a richer, much more intimate emotional connection. Using a combination discussion and experiential exercises we will introduce you to the theory, relationship dynamics, and EFT's stages of change.
EFT is increasingly being recognized across disciplines as a powerful developmental and non-pathological tool in understanding adult romantic relationships. Based on attachment theory, EFT is collaborative and respectful of clients combining experiential Rogerian techniques with structural systemic interventions. Research studies find that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements. See www.icceft.ca for more information on EFT’s development, use across settings and with a variety of couples’ problems, upcoming trainings, and other resources.
We hope you can join us in March.
